Yunec is a village in North-Eastern Bulgaria, part of Dolni Chiflik municipality, Varna region. It is located 40 km south to the city of Varna, 12 km away from the village of Shkorpilovtzi, 12 km away from the town of Byala, 13 km away from the village of Staro Oryahovo, 11 km away from the sea-coast and 2 km away from Varna-Burgas main road.

The climate in the area is temperate-continental characterized by a sunny spring, cool summer, colourful spring and mild winter. The relief is hilly-woody, the village is set on the eastern slopes of Stara Planina mountain. It borders a century-old forest and a dam-lake on one side and spacious vineyards and vast fields planted with sunflower on the other. The population numbers to approximately 60 people. Altitude – 94 m. The former name of the village used to be Dana-gyoz.
The nature surrounding the village is a unique combination of sea, mountain, river, deciduous forest and a dam-lake. The climate is favourable for the treatment of pulmonary conditions.

Yunec is an authentic Bulgarian village with a specific atmosphere, surrounded by beautiful and ecologically clean nature. In the village there is a food shop, a small church, a pub. The nearest school and health service is located in the town of Byala, some 13 km away from Yunec. Electricity and water-supply are available on a regular basis as well as coverage of all mobile operators. Daily bus transportation is available to the city of Varna and the nearby villages. Traditionally the locals are occupied in agriculture – farming, stock-breeding, bee-keeping, mushroom and herb gathering.

The nearest beach is in Shkorpilovtzi village. Next to the village there is a small, picturesque dam-lake, surrounded by dense forest vegetation – a wonderful spot for both fishing /carp, carassius, common rudd/ and relaxation.
A great number of the village’s inhabitants are foreign citizens. The village is popular amongst both Bulgarian s and foreigners for its outstanding ecologically clean nature. Another advantage of the village is its location between the largest settlements on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast Varna and Burgas. As a result many foreign investors have already noticed the investment potential of the village which will subsequently increase the prices of the properties in Yunec. Projects for the construction of a sewerage and water-purifying systems are being developed, yet other projects for the repair of the roads and restoration and maintenance of the green area in the region are currently being prepared, too. The area offers excellent conditions for the development of eco, rural and cognitive tourism as well as for fishing and hunting.

In the area there are three reserves: Kamchia Biospheric Reserve which is under the protection of UNESCO, Valtchi Dol reserve and Kirov Dol reserve. There are also 2 protected areas: Sherba Hunting Reserve famous for its rich populations of deer, roes, wild boars and mouflons and Kamchiiski Pyasatzi /Kamchia Sands/ – part of the longest beach in Bulgaria /over 10 km/.
